Jaguar carving

I finally finished my jaguar panel. I was really happy with the carving, but disappointed at how red it turned when I put the teak oil finish on it. This is my first use of mahogany, but I should have expected this. Anyway, I now have to push myself to start something new. I can't complain any more that I don't have the time, because I'm getting really lazy and spend lots of spare time reading. I'm going to try to find a wood that's not quite so red this next time.

Gale - your carving is terrific! I rather like the red background ...

I think it looks really good! If the background was more brown the jaguar wouldn't have shown up as well.

Nice carving. Is this a hobby?

Thanks for the comments. At one time I did sell some of my relief carvings. I've done several doors, including the one on our house in Oregon. For now, I'm just doing bits, experimenting with woods, but mostly being lazy.

That is a beautiful carving, Gale!
We have had wood colors change and fade out after a few weeks so yours may also. But I like the red.

I love the Jaguar Carving! I fell in love the jaquars after I visited Belice in August.
